Personnel Committee unanimously advances three Dumas appointments

MARLBOROUGH — June 10, 2024 — Marlborough Personnel Committee unanimously advances three Dumas appointments to the full council. The panel voted 3-0 to recommend Mary Lou Vanzini for a four-year Council on Aging term expiring May 1, 2028, filling the seat of Jim Confrey; MJ Spagone as city collector and assistant finance director for two years; and Christine Burble's return as human resources director for three years. Spagone, who started May 28 after stints in Avon, Bridgewater and Dartmouth, said she will sit for the Massachusetts Municipal Collector exam Aug. 16 and pledged "loyalty, dedication and a stalwart conviction to collect all tax monies due to the city." Burble, back in the post she held under the prior administration, said the Collins Center pay-and-classification study has kicked off and conceded the city "aren't addressing" DEI "in the best fashion." Council President Michael Ossing pressed her to route job-description changes through the council.
