Urban Affairs sets Lincoln Street Shell station hours at 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.

MARLBOROUGH — January 31, 2022 — Marlborough committee grants 5 a.m. opening to Lincoln Street Shell, rejecting 24-hour bid. The Urban Affairs and Housing Committee voted 5-0 to recommend a Chapter 342 exemption letting William Camuso's Shell station at 431 Lincoln St. operate 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. instead of the default 6 a.m. start, ending a petition pending since 2020. Camuso, who told members he lost roughly 20 percent of sales when he stopped 24-hour operation, had asked for a 4 a.m. opening; Ward Councilor Sean Irish refused to move below 5 a.m., citing the residential neighborhood and matching east-side convenience-store hours. The one-year permit is non-transferable, requires video surveillance and a silent panic alarm at each sales position, bars automotive repairs, and reverts to 6 a.m. if any condition lapses. The committee also advanced 5-0 votes on site plan conditions for the Aubuchon Realty plaza expansion at 661 Boston Post Road East and a special permit for JND Landscape Contractors at 101 Airport Blvd.
