Marlborough Traffic Commission converts Pleasant Court parking ban to tow zone

MARLBOROUGH — August 26, 2020 — Marlborough Traffic Commission converts Pleasant Court no-parking zone to a both-sides tow zone. Police Chief David A. Giorgi and Officer Andy LaRosa told the commission Wednesday they had issued an uncounted number of tickets to repeat offenders blocking fire-truck access to the three-building condo complex, with the existing no-parking signage proving ineffective. Fire Chief Kevin J. Breen backed "elevating the severity" of the restriction. The commission also advanced tow-zone regulations on Mill, Stephen, Pleasant and River streets to the city clerk for advertising, and directed Assistant City Engineer Tim Collins to refile a Steven Street truck-exclusion request with the state after a new 24-hour count logged 312 commercial vehicles out of more than 5,500 — 5.6 percent — and engineering diagrams showed tractor-trailers crossing the centerline at curves. A portable radar trailer on Church Street at Greenwood recorded a 60 mph maximum southbound against a 25 mph posted limit.
