Personnel Committee advances two Disability Commission reappointments

MARLBOROUGH — April 5, 2022 — Marlborough Personnel Committee unanimously advances two Disability Commission reappointments. The City Council subcommittee voted 3-0 on April 5 to recommend reappointing John Usainis, the commission's founding chair from 1990, and Wayne Stanley, a 22-year Air Force veteran and president of the Marlborough Veterans Council, each to new three-year terms. Stanley told the committee his prior term was hampered by COVID-19 and named sidewalk access and proper placement of handicapped placards at apartment buildings and residences as priorities. Asked about the size of the city's disabled-veteran population, he estimated "somewhere around two to three hundred." Councilor Sean Navin, who moved Stanley's reappointment, said the city owed both men "a debt of gratitude." The meeting ran six minutes, adjourning at 5:06 p.m.
